Ep 35: Anti-Bullying Advocacy with Chloe-Olivia
Whether you have children of your own or not, you are probably aware of the growing problem with bullying in school and via social media platforms. We see the negative impact bullying can have in a classroom and the life of a victim. Children as young as 10 years old are committing suicide as a means to deal with the pain they feel from being bullied. Others turn to violence against others, self-harming and even drug and alcohol abuse.
As a parent I am often gripped with panic when I hear of yet another school shooting. We can't allow our fear to make us feel helpless. There is something we can do, we can start today.
There are Anti-Bullying campaigns and rallies on school campuses all over the country. We can all do something to make a difference in the lives of not only the victims, but the bullies as well.
My guest today is a 14-year old Anti-Bullying Advocate. She shares with us her own experience with bullying and the steps she and her parents took to turn things around for her.
Chloe-Olivia is a 14 year old singer, songwriter, anti-bullying advocate, pianist, and motivational speaker. During Chloe's elementary years she was bullied by both teachers and students. She even had an incident where a teacher became physical with her! Without any support from teachers or administration the bullying continued. Her parents made the decision to homeschool to keep her safe physically and emotionally. It was during this time she began to focus more on her music.
Chloe has written over 60 anti-bullying songs and has a number one single called "I'm A Crazy Kind Of Beautiful" which can be purchased on Google Play, iTunes, and Amazon. Chloe has touched the lives of many with her powerful voice and touching songs.
